Are the UC and Common Application essays getting the best of you? Are you stressed about not knowing what to write or even where to begin? With many colleges going test-blind or test-optional (ACT or SAT scores are not looked at or not required), more weight will be put on application essays than ever before.
With access to counselors and teachers limited, I have decided to offer a series of free essay writing workshops. Each workshop will have a focus on different topics to get these kids started and well on their way to writing better essays.
Dates and topics covered are:
Wednesday, September 2nd from 5 pm to 6 pm
University of California Essay topics #1 – #4
*The UC application requires four essays selected from eight questions.
Wednesday, September 9th from 5 pm to 6 pm
University of California Essay topics #5 – #8
Wednesday, September 16th from 5 pm to 6 pm
Common Application Essay topics #1 – #7 & the optional COVID-19 Essay question
*The Common Application requires one essay from selected from seven questions.
The workshops will be on Zoom, and I will lead the students through the essay writing process, giving them a simple, yet straightforward pattern that makes essays personal and relatable.
